July 8, 2010 أطلق فريق Compiz السلسلة التجريبية الجديدة 0.9 من برنامج التركيب الحر الذي يضفي مزايا ثلاثية الأبعاد على سطح مكتب غنو/لينكس.
أبرز ما يميز النسخة الجديدة إعادة كتابة البرنامج بشكل كامل بلغة C++ بعد أن كان بلغة C، وتحسين واجهة برمجة التطبيقات (API)، وجعل أجزاء من قلب البرنامج ملحقات. لطالما كان Compiz واجهة جذابة متميزة لجلب الأنظار نحو نظام غنو/لينكس.
