April 26 2010 The faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at AAUJ organized a workshop on open source to raise the awareness on Free and Open Source Softwares Background The faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at AAUJ is committed to the promotion, use and training on open source products. One step in this direction was to conduct this workshop to raise the awareness and to show this alternative to our students.
Date and Time and place 26/4/2009, 13:00-15:00, Faculty of E&IT, Room 11104.
Schedule The following is the schedule of the workshop with speakers. All the speakers are members of the faculty.
Targeted audience Around 140 students attended the workshop. The majority of the students are from our faculty but there are some from Art & Science faculty as well.
Expenses and Sponsor This workshop is funded by a local newly opened restaurant " Mawal" (300$).
Results Based on the discussions in the workshop it was clear that our students are now more motivated and eager to attend training sessions that we plan next. Around 250 CD with Ubuntu distribution and Open Office were distributed in the workshop and outside.
