The center’s team includes:
Walid Karam, Ma3bar Coordinator Walid has been teaching computing courses at the University of Balamand since 1993. His academic experience includes software development, Java technologies, operating systems, and various senior and graduate topics in computing. Other experiences and research interests include biometrics, project management, free software, network management, and e-learning. He has published a number of articles in international journals and conferences. At ma3bar, Dr. Karam leads a team of 5 persons where he has been busy implementing a strategy to train and promote the use and development of free and open source software as a philosophy and culture in academia and Arab societies. Dr. Karam holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech (Atlanta, Georgia), a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from South Dakota State University (Brookings, South Dakota), and a PhD in Telecommunications from Telecom-ParisTech (France). Michel Chammas, Project Assistant Michel graduated from the University of Balamand with a Master degree in Networking & Communication in 2009. During his academic career, he worked as an assistant in the Unix Lab. He was responsible for software and hardware support and assistant for the OS courses. In 2007, Michel Worked as an assistant of several courses in the Department of Computer Science. In December 2009, he joined ma3bar and he's currently working in research and development of training material and maintaining the portal. Michel holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from University of Balamand, a Master of Science in Networking & Communication from the University of Balamand and a CCNA certificate from Cisco Academy. Michel is the President of the Computer Science Club UOB since 2005 and the Coordinator of the Balamand OSUM group since 2008. Amani al Halabi, Undergraduate Assistant
Amani is a senior in Information Systems in the University of Balamand and a junior in Business ( management information systems) in the Lebanese International University. Amani joined Ma3bar in the spring of 2011 as an assistant of the portal and deals with a variety of day to day tasks related to Ma3bar.
Zeina Foz, Undergraduate Assistant
Zeina is an undergraduate Software Engineering student in the University of Balamand. She joined Ma3bar in spring 2011. Zeina's working on the portal maintenance and on a research project. |
